Organizations needed a way for their employees and external users to be able to find and participate in social actions and initiatives.
Nailing the basics first
The app had 3 main objectives. Being easy to find and join initiatives; Being able to report and manage your reported hours; Rewarding and motivating the user with a social CV and rankings inside the company.
Maintaining consistency with desktop products
Having the app targeted at customers rather than b2b, like the desktop products, enabled us to be a lot more playful with the design. However the design had to be consistent with the new design system built for the desktop, so we adapted and used those components on mobile as well.
Knowing what users really want
It was necessary to test all te user cases to make sure we didn't let anyone out. We've simplified the sign up process and enabled corporate users to log in externaly through their authentication method.
Final Thoughts
The mobile app was a lot of fun to design for its gamification and joyful aproach. I hope the users loved it as much as I did designing it.
